Groundbreaking Results Noted in New E Cigarette Health And Effectiveness Research Study

- “Although not formally regulated as a pharmaceutical product, the e-Cigarette can help smokers to remain abstinent or reduce their cigarette consumption. By replacing tobacco cigarettes, the e-cigarette can only save lives … Here we show for the first time that e-Cigarettes can substantially decrease cigarette consumption without causing significant side effects in smokers not intending to quit.” 1
Adding to the controversy surrounding e cigarette health questions, new research indicates that e-cigs may help people stop smoking or significantly reduce their smoking even if they have no desire to stop smoking. This is the conclusion presented by a team of researchers from Italy who conducted the study and clinical trial Effect of an Electronic Nicotine Delivery Device (e-Cigarette) on Smoking Reduction and Cessation: A Prospective 6-Month Pilot Study.
Although the results of many studies have already indicated that e-cigarettes may be utilized effectively as a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) for those who want to stop smoking, there is now some evidence that e-cigarettes can decrease smoking in those who have no desire to quit. As a matter of fact, the recommendation of the American Association of Public Health Physicians is that “e-cigarettes can and should be sold to the public. Something to take the place of conventional cigarettes for people who smoke and are not willing to stop smoking.”

- Maybe (We Hope) One Day E Cigarettes Will Allow The Pleasure of Smoking (by another name – Vaping) Will Be Able To Shed the Deathly Image Cigarette Smoking Image It Has (for good reason) – E Cigarette Health Will No Doubt Be Questioned But Studies Like This Encourage Acceptance Of What Seems Obvious.
According to a recent study discussed in the BMC Public Health Journal, evidence suggests that when it comes to helping people kick the smoking habit, e-cigarettes may be more effective than traditional NRT. The research was based on a clinical trial in which 40 healthy smokers who did not wish to quit smoking were given e-cigs. None of the participants were advised or encouraged to end their smoking habit, and their smoking habits were monitored during a 24-week period without any supervision other than a baseline assessment and four study visits.
There was little intervention; the smokers were just told to utilize the e-cigarettes as they preferred. The results were astonishing and groundbreaking. During the 6-months that the study took place, 22.5 percent of the subjects had stopped smoking, and an additional 32.5 percent had reduced their smoking by at least 50 percent. This means that more than half the smokers either stopped smoking altogether or significantly reduced their smoking. These results are all the more impressive after taking into consideration the fact that there is less than a 20 percent success rate after six months when people use cessation aids approved by the FDA, and those results are obtained from people who have a desire to stop smoking and who are closely monitored in a clinical setting.
E Cigarette Health Issues: Comparing Effectiveness / Success Rates Of E Cigs vs traditional NRT techniques
Researchers found the “utilizing e-cigarettes significantly reduced the use of cigarettes without causing significant side effects in people who are not interested in quitting.”
Most public health associations continue to oppose the device (ecigs), however, despite building evidence that the e-cigarette is a successful and, to this point, harmful electronic cigarette health effects appear to be few (and clearly orders of magnitude less than those caused by traditional smoking).
The Study Seems To Indicate Majority Of Smokers Trying E Cigs are Able To Stick With E Cigs Long Term and that With Lowered Electronic Cigarette Health Risks, That Could Save Lives
While e-cigarettes are not subject to formal regulations as a pharmaceutical product, they can aid smokers in avoiding smoking or at least in limiting their smoking. By taking the place of cigarettes made of tobacco, e-cigarettes have the ability to keep people from dying.
